The Federal Council adopted September 16 message on the Free Trade Agreement between the EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) and Hong Kong. He forwarded to parliament for approval.
The free trade agreement with Hong Kong will significantly strengthen the position of the Swiss export industry in the Far East and Southeast Asia. Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the south of China, enjoys a geographical and economic extraordinary is the third financial center in the world and the main hub for free trade in Asia. Hong Kong is also a gateway to the Chinese market.
The free trade agreement creates a preference for the further development of bilateral economic relations and free trade between Switzerland and Hong Kong (suppression of human Customs investment protection, protection of intellectual property rights, etc.)also part of the message a bilateral agricultural agreement and an agreement on labor standards.
